A coastal low pressure system caused a slight storm surge in the Estuary this past weekend (1/7-1/8). Slightly higher water levels were observed from the George Washington Bridge to Schodack Island. Wind speeds are typically stronger in the late fall and winter months so expect more storm surges during this season. For a more detailed description see HRECOS Stories describing a Storm Surge and Winter Winds.
